In the footsteps of Wallander

All Scandinavian crime dramas have a dark and gloomy side which means they are often referred to as being of a Scandi-Noir genre.  Today was a somewhat Scandi-noir day with dark low clouds and some steady rain.

We decided to head for the place where it all began Ystad home of Kurt Wallander.   An hour by train using our ever flexible rail passes took us along the south coast past Swarte, Wallender's home by the sea and into the centre of town.   Here we picked up a self-guided tour and in the driving rain walked round places used for murders, trysts and meals.  Although it was hard to remember just where different places appeared, next time we watch the series, we should spot some familiar places
